الحمد لله الواجب وجوده الممتنع نظيره الممكن سواه وغيره الصادر باختياره شره وخيره... :Incipit

Written in small nastaʻlīq in black ink, 13 lines per page. Marginal and interlinear glosses in even smaller nastaʻlīq in black ink. Rubrics are in red, now faded. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Slightly illuminated ʻunwān with title in it (f. 1v); half-finished illumination at the end (f. 31r).

The ms. is water-stained throughout.

The ḥawāshī on the margins are signed [Qarajah] Aḥmad, Jalāl [al-Dawwānī?] and Muḥyī al-Dīn [al-Tālishī]. It is not clear whether their ḥāshiyahs are copied in full or they are just selections. The name Aḥmad and Jalāl first appear at the beginning of text on fol. 1v. However, Muḥyī al-Dīn's name is first seen in f. 2v.

According to colophon (f. 30v), completed in Rajab, in the afternoon (no dates given).

An obliterated seal and possible ownership statement (f. 1r).

The book is also known as "Qāla aqūlu", and published under that title (Cawnpore, 1862).

Seal of US Naval Lyceum (f. 31v).
