Note
A published commonplace book, intended for students and practicing attorneys, with letter press title page, preface, and index of headings for various legal terms from abatement to wills. The index of headings has been annotated with additional subjects. This book was presumably used by Sumner during his law studies at the Harvard Law School from 1831-1834.

Printed title: The lawyer's commonplace book, with an alphabetical index of most of the heads which occur in general reading and practice. (Boston : Hilliard, Gray, Little, and Wilkins, 1830).

Lawyer and politican Charles Sumner received his Harvard AB in 1830 and his LLB in 1834.
